Using existing home telephone lines, a base station relays information gathered by the sensors to the company's call center. Activity levels are monitored to ensure they fall within individually determined "normal" ranges; designated caregivers can access the data via email, phone or a protected website. Eating habits are checked by the opening and closing of the refrigerator. Although medication cannot be checked for correct dosage, the sensors do note the senior's presence in the area where medication is taken. Perhaps most helpful is how the sensors detect whether a senior has been in a particular area, such as the bathroom or the bedroom, for an abnormal amount of time.
