During our visit to Village Creek Nursing Home, the staff proudly introduced us to a gentleman who has lived there for almost twenty years. One of several residents who have a long history at the facility, he seemed quite happy with his surroundings. The staff and residents were pleasant and fell into easy conversation with one another. We admired photographs of a recent Juneteenth celebration, which depicted a large group of people smiling and dancing. The tables were festively decorated with red balloons and tablecloths, and the residents looked as though they had a marvelous time. The facility has been well-maintained through a series of remodeling. Staff recently held a contest amongst themselves to redecorate the shower areas using color on the walls and shower curtains. The results added simple cheer. The lobby of Village Creek is furnished with comfortable chairs and sofas, beckoning residents and guests to relax and visit. Residents often enjoy people-watching on the facility's front porch. A secured wing featuring a dining area and common rooms houses the Alzheimer's unit. Village Creek competently addresses an impressively broad range of needs, from cancer and pain management to schizophrenia and multiple personality disorder.
