Tanglewood Oaks is tucked away on South Hulen Street in a bustling, upscale area of Fort Worth, amid neighboring office buildings. The gray brick facility is surrounded by a manicured landscape of trees, shrubs and pink and purple flowers. A combination of artificial and fresh floral arrangements pops against the green and beige color palette inside. The facility is furnished with pristine, comfortable furniture. White paneling lines the walls of the expansive hallways. Staff and family members decorate residents' sunny, moderately sized rooms. Mouthwatering aromas of chicken fried steak, vegetables and freshly baked pie wafted from the kitchen into the homey dining area during our visit, where green linen dresses the tables. The meals at Tanglewood Oaks are designed to meet a variety of dietary needs and preferences, from diabetic to vegetarian.

Residents enjoy sitting in the gazebo or strolling on the paved walkways that curve beneath towering oaks in the inner courtyard. Small groups and one-on-one interaction between staff members and residents form the core of the activities program, which features arts and crafts, picnics and outings to the zoo, among others. Staff members collaborate with residents' families on individual care plans. Tanglewood Oaks also offers respite care.
