As we approached Heritage Square, we were greeted by a group of friendly residents who welcomed us to their facility. The crisp white interior and shiny linoleum floors create a bright and spacious feel. The H-shaped layout accommodates several seating areas, nestled in each hallway. Residents' generously sized rooms feature ample closet space. Each has a lovely seating area flushed with natural light. Double occupancy rooms are available on the second floor.

The dining area has all the charm of an old saloon. At one end is a stage; at the other, an extensive bar with ample seating. The horizontal mirror behind the bar rounds out the authentic setting. Circular dining tables are frequently used for playing cards during activity hours. Live piano entertainment in the dining hall is another welcomed pastime. Heritage Square residents, who impressed us as being especially active, enjoy the cafeteria-style meals. An old-fashioned porch swing and playful swing set beckon residents to spend time outdoors. Ceiling fans provide a gentle breeze over the furnished patio.

All staff is cross-trained in different facets of care to ensure efficiency. Most of the residents are recipients of Community Based Alternatives (CBA) and Community Care for the Aged and Disabled (CCAD) awards. The staff and management foster a warm environment where residents appear comfortable and content. A recent bus trip to Oklahoma was a wonderful bonding activity for both groups. From the smiling faces that greeted us to the helpful staff, it is plain to see that Heritage Square is a happy home to everyone!
