Fountains of Hulen and its sister Alzheimer's facility rest on peaceful Dan Danciger Road in Fort Worth. A number of nursing homes, hospitals and doctors' offices are also in the vicinity. The exterior is well-maintained and surrounded by a beautiful lawn. During our tour, a delicious aroma wafted from the kitchen, adding to the homey atmosphere. The kitchen staff takes a health-conscious approach to the food they serve. Fried food, which can be difficult to digest, is not a part of the menu. The Filipino chef takes pride in serving her native dishes.

The common areas are comfortably furnished and feature fresh flowers. The lighting throughout is soft and adequate. The hallways and other common areas are very tidy. The dining room is an appropriate size for the number of residents, and features very comfortable seating. Residents enjoy relaxing in the solarium.

Residents of the assisted living facility laughed and conversed together during our visit. Alzheimer's residents seemed to be reserved, for the most part, although we did witness a few of them socializing. The staff conducts many one-on-one activities with residents. The atmosphere is inviting. It is plain to see that staff and residents genuinely care for one another; they were interacting warmly and referred to each other by name. One resident told us that our tour guide was like a daughter to her.

Residents can choose to decorate their rooms or to use furniture supplied by the facility. Each room features generously sized windows. Residents seem to enjoy the outdoor patio, where they are welcome to garden with plants of their choosing, or to simply relax.
