Bordered by manicured lawns and grand cedar trees, Broadway Plaza at Cityview is a staple in this hillside community of townhouses and villa-like apartments. Assisted living residents occupy the first floor, while residents of the skilled nursing facility reside on the second and third floors. Through the north entrance is a long hallway leading to the reception area—an elegant setting with chairs upholstered in pretty floral patterns, artificial potted plants, paintings of townscapes and cottages, and rich window treatments that pop against muted walls.

Residents' rooms each have one window. The rooms range from small to medium in size. The dining area is a cozy arrangement of mahogany tables draped in blue linen. Lovely sconces lend a soft ambience as residents enjoy restaurant-style meal service. A sample menu features meatloaf, grilled vegetables and tossed salad. Both common areas are furnished with loveseats and chairs.

The outdoor area is a picturesque retreat. The stone birdbath and bench underneath the towering cedar tree are centerpieces of the blossoming garden. Huge windows at the end of each of the broad hallways flood the interior with light. Fluorescent lighting brightens the rest of the facility.

Broadway Plaza residents are lively and fairly independent; most need only moderate assistance. The event calendar has few scheduled activities, which is perhaps a reflection of the amount of time residents spend with friends and loved ones. Weekly craft activities and shopping trips are two of the popular offerings on the schedule.
