Barton House I and II are prominent brick structures in a quiet cul-de-sac. Both buildings are homey with manicured grounds featuring trees, shrubbery and green grass. The foyer smells of calming lavender and is comfortably furnished with chairs and sofas. The interior walls are washed in muted tones and complemented by fresh flowers and decorative antiques. Upon entering, we observed residents socializing in this homelike common area.

Residents' rooms are spacious and all have windows. Although the furniture is supplied by Barton, residents and their families are encouraged to decorate to suit their tastes. Individual displays mounted outside residents' doors help patients with dementia recognize their rooms. The dining room is a popular spot for socializing and activities. Fragrant smells wafted from the kitchen, piquing delightful curiosity from passersby. The kitchen staff prepares four meals and two snacks every day.

The outdoor patio is appropriately furnished for casual dining and social visits. The groomed landscape is etched with lovely walkways throughout. Residents are encouraged to plant and garden. The short hallways are wide and free of clutter. The soft artificial lighting is dimmed during evening hours to prepare residents for bedtime. Residents and staff interact warmly with one another. Management and staff emphasize open communication with residents and their families, making sure everyone is well informed on residents' behalf.
