Pearl Nordan is a gorgeous addition to the sixteen-acre campus of Juliette Fowler Homes; also members of the community are independent and assisted living residents from Fowler Christian Apartments and the Jackson Living Center. Green foliage envelops the attractive brick frame. The building is minutes from downtown Dallas and the Lakewood area. Residents and their families enjoy outings to any of several nearby parks. The reception area is an elegant setting of cherrywood furniture with floral upholstery and dark green carpeting. The building is bathed in sunlight that streams in from windows on all sides. Residents' luxurious rooms are accented with crown moldings and textured walls. Residents socialize and gather in the many common areas, which include a fitness room, club rooms, libraries, a swimming pool and a chapel. In the dining room, a group of residents were sharing a meal of turkey and cheese sandwiches with tomato soup, prepared by the kitchen staff. The expansive outdoor area is well-maintained. Shaded picnic tables in grassy areas, curved pathways and majestic cedar and maple trees are all a part of this picturesque refuge. The hallways are spacious and equipped with handrails. Residents' mailboxes also line the halls. The community at Pearl Nordan is an active one. The combination of independent living and assisted living residents gives the campus a feeling of vitality. We observed residents checking mail, walking with staff through the halls, playing chess in one of the common areas and preparing for outdoor picnics. Staff and residents were very pleasant with one another, adding to the vibrant, homelike environment.
