Grace Presbyterian Village is located on a large campus south of downtown Dallas. The entrance was under construction when we visited, but the rest of the facility was beautifully maintained. An attractive glass walkway connects the skilled nursing and assisted living areas. Many staff members have been with Grace Presbyterian Village for more than thirteen years. Music played softly in the background as we toured the facility. The interior is homelike, although the lighting is somewhat institutional. Well-kept common areas include TVs, couches and chairs. The hallways are wide and equipped with handrails. The large dining area is spotless and comfortable. Residents' rooms feature elegant and practical furnishings. Windows allow natural light. Special pressure-relieving mattresses help prevent bedsores. The facility is equipped with lifting devices to help transfer residents between beds, walkers and wheelchairs when necessary. Residents and their families enjoy the lovely twenty-seven acre grounds, which are wooded and hilly. The campus is landscaped with grass, flowers and shade trees. A stream runs across the property. Flocks of native birds call the area home, much to the pleasure of resident bird-watchers.
