When the owners of Avalon could not find a homey care facility for their grandparents, they founded Avalon Royal Circle. The comfortable house in upscale North Dallas is complete with hedges and rosebushes. It was designed to be as homelike as possible. Residents are encouraged to furnish their rooms to evoke familiarity and comfort. Each of the rooms is spacious and has a large window.

Balanced meals, homemade with fresh ingredients, are served in an airy dining room. During our visit, a resident helped the kitchen staff prepare an appetizing beef stew. Fruit, cookies, crackers and other snacks are available daily. The dining area and the breakfast nook are both popular spots for residents and staff to visit with each other. Photos of the residents decorate the walls of the sunny den. We observed residents walking about and chatting together in this space. Comfortable new recliners and a sofa invite residents to watch movies on the big-screen TV. The staff seemed to enjoy their work and interacted warmly with the residents.

The secured backyard contains trees and a small patio with a seating area. An umbrella provides afternoon shade. In the early morning, residents often gather to watch hummingbirds at the bird feeder.
