Avalon Allencrest is a country-style home that offers a refreshingly noninstitutional alternative to traditional Alzheimer's care. Located in a pleasant neighborhood at the end of a cul-de-sac, the home is shaded by tall trees. Dark wood furniture offset by pale walls and tasteful window treatments creates a quaint and rustic atmosphere. Homemade meals are served in the expansive dining room. The dining area is adjacent to the TV room, which also features a library. The open design of the home eliminates hallways. Residents' rooms are sunny, spacious and comfortable. During our visit we were impressed by the state of cleanliness—even the air smelled fresh! The backyard has well-kept hedges, trees, flowerbeds and a tidy lawn. We witnessed several residents socializing on the patio. Residents commented on some of the activities they enjoyed most—namely, hand and foot massages, cookie socials and trips to nearby shopping malls. The staff was warm and welcoming and we were delighted to see a caregiver dancing excitedly with a resident.
