Avalon Crestmere provides a homelike atmosphere for its Alzheimer's residents. The ranch house has a circular driveway flanked by trees. Mirrors and a neutral color scheme give the living room an airy feel. Artwork hangs on the walls of the entryway. Overhead fixtures and lamps brighten the home's interior. The hallways are on the narrow side but can accommodate wheelchair users. The dining room features soft chandelier lighting, a large table and separate bar area. A small window lights the moderately sized residents' rooms, each of which are furnished with a TV. Residents may add personal decorations if they wish.

A fence secures the outdoor area and protects residents' privacy. Large trees shade the patio seating area. There is a well-lit path that provides an excellent spot to walk in agreeable weather. Entrées such as baked chicken and meatloaf are made daily; residents often help in the preparation. Regular activities include exercise, cookie socials and field trips to the zoo. During our visit the staff focused on the residents who, for the most part, were quiet and reserved.
