Arbrook is situated on a bustling boulevard of the same name. Flowers trace the small lawn before the red brick building, which is flanked by trees. Residents observe neighborhood activity from any of the numerous rocking chairs on the front patio. A glass chandelier illuminates mahogany coffee tables and floral upholstered chairs in the foyer. The dining room is used for all types of activities from bingo to religious services. Fluorescent lighting brightens the nursing station, which sits at the confluence of four residential wings. Dark green carpeting extends into residents' rooms, all of which have small windows. A curtain separates the hospital beds and nightstands in the semi-private rooms. The hallways are broad enough to allow two hospital beds to pass each other, but are somewhat dim. Walk-in showers with handrails are featured in two of the halls. The busy staff accommodates a variety of medical needs, including intravenous therapy, wound care, respite and hospice care. Arbrook has a quiet atmosphere; many of the residents were napping in their rooms or quietly watching television in the common area when we visited.
