Seventy-two acres accommodate this skilled nursing facility and its affiliated assisted living facility along with an abundance of trees and flowers. The center serves a mostly Jewish population. In the Founder's Hall, four of the eight walls feature art-etched glass. The main lobby is huge, with an enormous skylight that allows sunlight to spill in. Many of the windows are low, enabling residents in wheelchairs to view the outdoors easily. A decorator's eye is inherent in the furnishings and placement. The lobby's central fixture is the baby grand piano; many events take place around it, including tea and music socials. The facility is divided into households with up to twenty-seven residents within each household are clusters of nine bedrooms all if which have a den and sitting area. Color-coded carpet leading to a corresponding cluster ensures residents can easily navigate the facility. Picture boxes mark residents' rooms. Each household has a dining room, activity kitchen, living room where residents can watch TV or socialize and an all-seasons porch. Residents requiring a secured dementia unit live in one of two households. Residents seemed very well cared for; staff emphasizes personal dignity and safety. Dining rooms, used for both eating and activities, afford beautiful views of the surrounding property. All meals are kosher, and Jewish holidays are recognized. The chapel is extraordinary, with its gorgeous stained-glass Torah depictions and a tapestry depicting the twelve tribes of Israel. Tallitot, kippot and prayer books are available. A mosaic of colored tiles create the magnificent representation of the Wailing Wall. There is a staff rabbi and a chaplain. Activities and care are tailored to residents' interests and preferences. Many intergenerational activities center on sharing traditions and observances. Residents congregate for quiet activities in either the library or the computer center. The children's play alcove is ideal for spending time with visiting grandkids, and Mother's Garden plays host to green-thumbed planting enthusiasts. Staff medical workers include geriatricians, physician assistants, psychologists, nurses, social workers, activity therapists and rehab therapists. Residents may continue seeing their own physician or specialist; however, the residence has access to a full continuum of subspecialties. Speech, occupational and physical therapies are offered at no additional charge.
