BEELONG Adult Day Services is located in the beautiful, historic town of Fallsington, which boasts the original Quaker meetinghouse where William Penn worshipped. The entire village has been restored to reflect its eighteenth-century heritage. The center is a renovated fire hall, conveniently situated next to the local fire department. A quaint park sits directly across from the center with lots of benches and flags waving in the breeze. The program takes place in a spacious room tastefully decorated with participant artwork. On a large section of one of the walls is a collage mural designed to look like a giant aquarium. A large tree mural painted on the opposing wall "changes" with the seasons.The activity program is designed to facilitate as much independence as possible in participants. A large board lists the day's activities, which follow a basic routine to maintain a stable comfort level. At the time of our visit, participants were engaged in a "horseshoe" game led by a very enthusiastic staff member. A typical day might include sing-alongs, chair games, spiritual enrichment discussions, a bean bag toss or a matinee at a local theater. There is an extensive arts and crafts program in place, and two well-organized closets packed full of games, coloring books and art supplies. Staff was very friendly and interactive with participants who seemed to really enjoy that day's activity. Meals are served in the main room, where there is a fully functioning kitchen. A large shower room is at the ready for participants who might need assistance bathing. We were also delighted to browse through photograph albums of participants proudly displaying their artwork or enjoying other activities.
