Two campuses compose Pine Run Community. The main campus holds independent living apartments, the skilled nursing facility and the rehab unit used by residents as well as the outpatient community. The second, Pine Run Lakeview, houses the assisted living and Alzheimer's populations. Both campuses, nestled in a valley carved by a scenic stream, overlook a lake surrounded by fields, meadows and woods. Outdoor bench seating is prevalent. Pine Run's real draw is its staff. Residents and staffers exchanged pleasantries and chatted like old friends during our visit. The residents here are an active bunch: we noted them eating, walking, socializing and playing bingo. The library and media rooms were popular spots. The main campus also boasts a craft barn and woodshop. Gardening and pet therapy offer some spiritual time, as do the many interfaith services. This main campus has a true community feel; quaint streets, all named after tree varieties on the grounds, wind in and around the independent living cottages with covered porticos. Walkways meet and break in different directions—gazebos mark each intersection. The largest building is the Pine Run Health Center, which houses the skilled nursing and rehab facility. Oriental carpets and stylish new furniture spruce up the living room. An upscale touch is evidenced in the many paintings and comfortable seating areas. Caged rabbits echo the country charm of the outdoors.Pine Run Lakeview, the second campus, is a one-building complex. A large birdhouse welcomes visitors at the front door. Assisted living residents enjoy spacious rooms with a country charm in flourishes such as shuttered windows that face a garden courtyard. Both campuses have numerous dining rooms—all of which are spacious and cheery with linen-draped table settings. A fancy restaurant on the grounds, Le Bon Appétit, appeals to the masses for special occasions, whereas the café is a popular spot for chatting and grabbing a quick bite. All of the menus are varied, interesting and appetizing. At the time of our tour, a bistro was under construction, and the community was trying to acquire a liquor license so that certain dining rooms would be able to offer alcoholic beverages.
