This large facility sits on a fast-moving road in a residential neighborhood. The building is surrounded mostly by asphalt, but does have a few spots of color courtesy of plantings and grassy areas. Although two main outdoor areas exist—a large stone balcony overlooking a forested area and a fenced-in grassy space with a gazebo—residents seem to prefer keeping to the front of the building, where they watch the comings and goings. Inside, we found more residents chatting in the lobby. The nearby living room has multiple couches and leads into the bistro where coffee, tea and snacks are available. Décor has an earthy subdued tone; both the lobby and living room feature patterned green carpet and beige wallpaper. Dark wood furnishings are comfortable and in good condition. Many residents spend the day in the living room, socializing there until evening.

An independent living unit takes up the top four floors of the facility. Independent living residents must qualify as low-income and many do not move into the assisted living portion when they need additional care. However, these residents can purchase meal plans from the facility and are checked on daily. Our tour guide, the marketing director, was approached numerous times by residents asking her to solve various problems. We were impressed by how she tended to each person or immediately set a time to follow up. Her sincerity and commitment were evident. A doctor visits the facility weekly, but residents or family must schedule transportation to appointments.

Residents' apartments are fairly large with ample closet space. The property backs into an arboretum, affording many residents a magnificent view of large trees, streams and beautiful foliage. The community room, which is quite large, is in the independent living quarters, but may be used by all. Sports fans gather in the TV room, whereas the library appeases resident bookworms. Another common room sports a pool table and comfortable chairs. The auditorium hosts both church and secular events. An onsite dietician ensures nutritious meals, and we noted many food-centered socials posted on the activity schedule. Yoga classes take place regularly and a special class is held for residents in wheelchairs. We noticed on our tour that many residents seemed to enjoy sitting and talking with one another over organized group activities. Trips to shopping malls and other local destinations occur fairly regularly.
