At Mill Run, one can expect a beautiful facility, a signature of all Sunrise Senior Living communities. The exterior is an attractive moss green and has a dark green canvas awning announcing the name of the facility. Located in the heart of a quiet, residential neighborhood, the building is set at an angle with an entranceway in the center. Benches and chairs placed out front let residents enjoy the majestic maple trees and well-manicured lawns and bushes. The inside reflects the same attention to aesthetics. Fragrant, freshly cut flowers are placed throughout the entire facility. New floral wall-to-wall carpet complements the wallpaper in muted tones of mauve and baby blue. Comfortable new furniture has been situated to create several intimate sitting areas.

The twenty-four hour bistro reminded us of a cozy restaurant. In true café style, several smaller tables nestle up to a counter with full coffee and snack service. The main dining room is quite elegant, with chandeliers and cloth napkins and tablecloths. There is also a second dining area available for private gatherings. The meals are very enticing and varied. During our visit we glanced at a sample menu, which included cereal or Belgian waffles for breakfast; soup, glazed chicken or stuffed pasta shells for lunch; and a choice of roast turkey or a seafood platter for dinner. Yummy desserts are served as well.

Resident apartments are large with lots of room in both sleeping and living areas. The carpeted rooms have a full bath and get lots of natural light. Hallways outside the resident suites are particularly nice, with attractive wooden handrails, sconces and occasional chairs or couches that are perfect for taking a break and enjoying the gorgeous outside view. Several walking paths wind through meticulously manicured lawns and shady trees. A pleasant courtyard with flowers and plantings is tended by residents. Other activities enjoyed by residents are trips to museums, national parks and picnics. There are at least five planned activities per day including an outing, an afternoon social and an evening activity. Recently, there was a magic show and a trip to Great Adventure Safari, a local amusement park. Residents at Mill Run appeared very happy, calm and productively occupied. We were also pleased to learn that the facility's director visits the dining room every day to chat to them.
