A skyway from this facility's third floor rehabilitation center connects it to Lutheran Medical Center. The neighborhood is urban and close to both subway and bus lines. Inside, Lutheran Augustana Center is a modern mix of winter white and blues with contemporary furnishings. Hallways and common areas are spacious. Plants, small trees and an appealing aquarium add flavor to the common recreation area. Residents' rooms evoke a feeling of calm, with simple furnishings set against a blue, sage and white color scheme. A multitude of windows brighten the spacious dining room. The activity room, which has only two windows, houses a big-screen TV and a small library. The rehabilitation area features state-of-the-art exercise machines. On the first floor, residents meet with visitors in the gray- and rose-flecked living room, where a second diminutive library, TV and a wicker basket with silk flowers create a homey environment. From the common room on the ground floor, an enclosed walkway leads to a quaint lawn and patio with shaded seating. Grassy areas are well-maintained with a perimeter lined by trees and colorful plants that bloom in spring and summer. Content and responsive, the residents are dressed to impress. The staff follows suit with a professional and orderly demeanor. Keeping residents happy seems to be of utmost importance. Televised chapel services are broadcast three times a week, but the chapel's beautiful stained glass windows are best appreciated in person. The Lutheran Augustana Center offers a pastoral care program with services available daily.
