Find Home Health Care Providers

Home health care (not to be confused with home care) is doctor-prescribed care provided by skilled personnel, such as nurses or physical and occupational therapists, in an individual's home. This type of in-home care for your elderly loved one is always medically mandated and ensures continued independence while receiving care, assistance, and supervision in his or her own home. Because home health care is decided by the patient's doctor, the majority of costs are covered by Medicare.

Home health care is designed to help seniors recuperate from an injury, illness or surgery. All care and administration of medication is supervised by licensed professionals, such as registered nurses (RNs), licensed practical nurses (LPNs), and licensed vocational nurses (LVNs). Occasionally, therapists work for home health care agencies and provide occupational, speech, and physical therapy services. Additionally, providers may enlist the assistance of home health aides who provide personal care with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and toileting as well as administration of medication under the supervision of a nurse.
