Mabini Day Health is housed in an attractive, five-story building that also accommodates senior housing. A number of other senior residencies occupy the area as well. One of the exterior walls is made entirely of glass, so there is a lot of natural light. The interior is tastefully painted in pale blues and oranges with matching color patterns in the flooring. Wood handrails and accents complement the facility's modern design. A plaque on the wall lists some of the program's donors: the Mayor's Office of Redevelopment, the Hearst Foundation, and the Bank of America Foundation are all supporters.Mabini Day Health's clientele is largely Asian: Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese. Staff is decidedly friendly and helpful. Next to the facility is a community garden with raised beds, some of which are assigned to the facility, so participants can garden or use the area for a stroll. The gardens are in use even during the winter and are a favored activity. Exercise is also popular. ESL and current events classes are offered, along with arts and crafts, music, and games. Staff is kind and competent.
