Westside Health Care is a simple beige building trimmed in light blue with a clean exterior and setting. Grass, young trees and colorful flowers line the entrance. The building, once a hotel, features two patios with plants and seating. The facility is conveniently located within walking distance to Starbucks and Carl's Jr., virtual necessities for most Los Angeles residents. The interior is cheerful and cozy. Elegant leather sofas surround a glass coffee table with a lush pink and green centerpiece. The dining room doubles as an activity space, and shows signs of residents' creativity. Seasonal artwork made by residents brightens the large room. During our tour, we observed the positive interactions between staff and residents, who were happily engaged in a game of Simon Says. Weekly lunch outings provide a nice change of pace and an opportunity to enjoy the pleasant weather. The facility accommodates 120 residents in spacious semiprivate rooms, divided by curtains. Floral window treatments and matching bedding warm the rooms. A full spectrum of services is available on-site, including dental, dietary, podiatry, social work, speech pathology, physical therapy, diagnostic X-ray and mental health services.
