Sunnyview Convalescent Hospital, which was a motel in the 1960s, sits in a less than desirable neighborhood. Aside from its turquoise trim, the off-white building is quite plain. Adjacent to the building, pink and white blossoms color a cluster of bushes. Two gated parking structures border the facility. A large chandelier hangs from the high ceiling in the lobby. Olive green trim along the beige walls harmonizes with matching cushioned seats. The entire facility appears color-coordinated. Pastels and floral patterns permeate every room, including residents' spacious bedrooms. Dark rose-colored bedding in the simple rooms is striking and pretty. Floral cloth-covered tables mark the dining and activity room. Although there isn't a dietician on staff, one is consulted as needed. During our tour, residents were doing their morning exercises. Some reached their arms high above them, while others opted for a gentler forward stretch. In addition to strengthening their bodies, residents watch movies, play games, attend parties and chapel services, sing and enjoy barbecues on the patio. Umbrella-topped tables and green striped chairs look eclectic in this otherwise pink and white space. Multipurpose rooms can be reserved for private visiting. Staff members undergo extensive training and between them, speak multiple languages, allowing greater communication for the varied resident population.

  • Relationship to this provider?
    My loved one stayed here
  • Q. Your overall impressions of this provider?
    A. Sunnyview is absolutely HORRIBLE. My mother was recently an occupant and suffered some bruises and the staff did not take heed to this. Immediately I had the head nurse contact my mother's physician at which time he requested my mother be taken to the hospital.
BOTTOMLINE, I would NOT recommend this facility!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Q. Would you recommend this care provider?
    A. No
