Verdant trees flank the facade of Country Villa North. A ramp in the back allows for wheelchair access. Recent renovations have perked up some parts of the building, but the patios, kitchen, administrative offices and rehab room had not been remodeled at the time of our visit. The lobby has beige tile floors and upholstered mahogany chairs. Gold wallpaper lines the walls in every room. With seating and a vending machine, the charming dining room accommodates ten people at each of its cloth-draped tables. Floral paintings embellish the walls, further accented by ornate gold curtains hanging from one window. A dark wood entertainment center holds a big-screen TV and matches the dark wood grand piano. There is a small patio off the dining room with a vending machine and a few white chairs; smokers often utilize this space. The main patio is more roomy and attractive, however—it features palm trees, plants and umbrella-topped table sets. Some spacious resident rooms feature brand-new electric beds, buried in lush heaps of burgundy floral bedding that matches the window treatments. Baby blue dividers allow for privacy between roommates. Strong relationships characterize Country Villa North. As we toured the facility, we met some welcoming caregivers, many of whom have been with the facility since its inception. The people here clearly care about each other, and that stands out above everything else.
