A verdant French Quarter-themed patio forms the natural separation of the two buildings that comprise Iranian Jewish Senior Center. Trickling water spilling from pretty wall fountains creates a garden getaway, where benches and chairs are surrounded by colorful blooms. Located on a busy boulevard, the buildings are off-white with green trim. The first building is the older of the two, and is surrounded by small trees, plantings and baby's breath. It has its own small outdoor patio with shaded seating. Brick steps carry visitors in to the lobby.

Slated for renovation in 2007, the interior of the first building has off-white walls with burgundy trim and accents. Framed European prints adorn the walls. Residents' rooms are awash in light pink paint, and while very spacious, could use a makeover. A tastefully decorated living room seats four red sofas and Italian-cushioned chairs. Wall chandeliers hang at opposite sides of the room, wherein a large flat-screen TV is the star attraction. The small dining room fits approximately seventy-five people.

Brilliant rosebushes flank the outside of the second building, which recently underwent a full renovation. Inside, the stunning lobby is decorated with antique Italian furniture and tile floors. A twinkling chandelier punctuates the space. Off-white walls and white ceilings throughout the building create a feeling of spaciousness. The dining room is akin to a ballroom with round gold leaf ceiling lamps and its own bar. This area opens to the French Quarter patio with its European-style chairs and coffee tables. Luxurious resident rooms contain a mini refrigerator, nightstand, dresser and easy chair; some rooms have chandeliers.

A relaxed and contented-looking bunch, residents here enjoy a full schedule of activities that includes arts and crafts, exercise, watching movies, religious services, parties and live entertainment. At the time of our visit, residents in the first building lounged comfortably in the living room, chatting with each other and enjoying a TV program.
