Western Adult Day Health Care is located on the first floor of a medical building. The programming is geared toward a Korean population. Inside, the main lobby is furnished with brown leather couches. The interior, although somewhat aged, is well maintained and spotlessly clean. The entire center has wood flooring. Small rooms and offices surround the main dining room that is also used as an activity space. Cushioned black chairs surround the white rectangular tables. The setting is reminiscent of a large hall. Three big-screen TVs offer diversion as do the strobe lights, which light up the occasional boisterous dance parties that are held in the afternoon. A buffet and salad bar occupies one corner of the room. The white walls are cheered by participants' arts and crafts pieces. During our tour, colorful balloons hung from the ceilings. The diminutive patio area is enhanced by the flowers and plants that surround it, as well as the matching wood furnishings.Each participant has a folder of math problems, puzzles, artwork and the like should they choose not to be a part of a group activity. During our tour, many of the participants were singing karaoke with real gusto! Staffers, in turn, were quite charming in welcoming us into the program and in their jovial rapport with participants. Religious services, exercise, dancing, singing and watching movies are augmented by various types of Korean entertainment from members of the outside community and classes on everything from computers to the English language. Acupuncture and massage therapy are also available.
