Àegis of Corte Madera is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood in Corte Madera, California, easily accessible from San Francisco, the East Bay and towns north. Great shopping nearby and easy walking paths enhance our community's location. Our 83 private apartments feature a variety of studio, one- and two-bedroom floor plans, some with expanded kitchens and fireplaces. We also provide care for seniors living with Alzheimer's or other dementia in our Life's Neighborhood program, with 35 private studio apartments.
The amenities at Àegis of Corte Madera make life even more fun and interesting. We have a theatre with plush seating, a massage room, and a library where you can hear residents reading poetry, discussing events of the week, or playing a lively game of bridge or poker! In addition to our terrific care staff and nurses, we are proud to have our consulting physician's office on site, facilitating communication among residents, family and staff.

Q. Your overall impressions of this provider?
A. We here at Aegis of Corte Madera are dismayed to read your review and wish to respond. We strive to make a wonderful home for our residents and a working environment that is second to none in the industry. Just as you mentioned, staff are an incredibly important component to quality senior care. We know for a fact that without dedicated staff we cannot provide the level of service and care that is required and requested for our residents. With this in mind, we seek to offer our employees the best possible working environment in the industry. In fact, we average an employee turnover rate of 23%-45%, with Corte Madera coming in at 23% on an annual basis. This is significantly lower than the industry average of 120% turnover rate. Therefore I am not certain if in fact the employees that helped your loved one left more frequently than others or not, but I can assure you that retention of our good employees is vital to our success.
In terms of us over charging, I can tell you this is not a policy of ours. We diligently work with our resident’s to provide an atmosphere that allows them to maintain as much independence as possible, making it easier for them to lead happier and healthier lives. Rest assured that we here at Aegis look to better our residents and their family’s lives by offering the best senior care available. I wish you had brought up these concerns earlier so we could have addressed your issues. We never wish to see a family leave, and work diligently to make every family happy here at Aegis of Corte Madera.

Q. Your overall impressions of this provider?
A. My suggestion is to avoid this facility if at all possible for a couple of reasons. Due to a high rate of turnover the staff is constantly changing. Good staff members look for work elsewhere and leave as quickly as possible. This is not good for elderly who have trouble with change.
The profit model is in over-drive with staff wanting to do things for residents so that the residents are charged. For example, a resident was told that she couldn't dress herself and then the family was charged for dressing the resident even though the resident was capable of dressing herself. -
