Greatest Gift
by Joan Aragone
December 16, 2006 - In the past, this column has recommended the “Gilbert Guide,” a
comprehensive guidebook to longterm care facilities throughout the Bay
Area and nationwide, with detailed information and ratings of all facilities,
including types of payment accepted and patient/staff ratio.
The book, which also contains clear explanations of the kinds of longterm
care available and services covered by Medicare, can serve as a reference.
The only drawback to such print publications is timeliness, as information
about specific sites may change between the time information is written and
the time it appears in the stores.
Now the creators of the “Gilbert Guide” have solved the timeliness problem
with Gilbert Guide Online, a subscription service that allows you to see upto-
the-minute information about facilities in all longterm care categories
available in the area you choose. Starting Monday check out the Web site,
www.GilbertGuide.com.
