    I ran across this posting while doing some research on cervical cancer. And Tanya, you are right this is absolutely hopeful. What I have been thinking about is how the availability of Gardasil will create the possibility of many young women to safeguard themselves against developing cervical cancer. Bu the issue now is whether young women really have equal access to the vaccine. As a country we need to make certain that all young women, regardless of race, have the same access to the vaccine. As only then do have a fighting chance of making cervical cancer a thing of the past.

    There is still a persistent incidence here in the US, but Gardasil will have its biggest impact in underdeveloped countries. A combination of screening and the use of the vaccine should eliminate most of the locally serious cases.
