Medicare Launches Brand-new Web Pages Dedicated to Helping Family Caregivers

by Gilbert Guide

Ask Medicare

Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS) recently launched a new addition to their Web site; the Ask Medicare pages are designed to help family caregivers navigate CMS and also find crucial resources outside of the agency. We are so happy to see this new addition as it is another way for caregivers to obtain the information they need.

What’s on the Ask Medicare Pages?

The main page has four main components:

  • Help With Billing. Find out what is covered by Medicare, how to read a Medicare summary notice, file a claim, explanation of the appeals and grievances and how to report fraud.
  • Navigating Medicare. This section explains how Medicare works, including enrollment, how caregivers go about accessing health information for another person and comparison sheets for both drug and Medigap plans.
  • Overwhelmed? Get Help. Find explanations of how to find financial support and information for caregivers.
  • Care Options. Helps you compare facilities, find physicians who accept Medicare and explanations of various long-term care options.

There is also a place to sign up for a newsletter, links to Medicare publications covering a variety of topics including coping with chronic illness to paying for prescription drug coverage, a question and answer section and a form for emailing Medicare should you have a question to which you cannot find the answer.
