Managing Incontinence: Your Guide to Personal Comfort
Hello! I am Gary Hirsch, owner and president of G. Hirsch and Company, an inventor, manufacturer and distributor of adult incontinence care products. It is an honor for me to appear in this corner on the Gilbert Guide blog, and I hope to share some insight into the world of adult incontinence care so that you and yours may live a more comfortable, enjoyable life.
Since I got my start in the world of adult incontinence care over 28 years ago, quite a lot has changed. Incontinence has become a topic that is more easily discussed amongst family members and caregivers, and though there still is a good deal of stigma associated with incontinence, there are many more places to turn to get help. I started my company, which wholesales and distributes adult briefs, undergarments and other incontinence care products, to provide that help to families and people living with incontinence.
Still, there is great work to be done to increase the comfort level of those living with incontinence. If this applies to you or someone you love, know that you are not alone: if you "suffer" from incontinence, you are one of nearly 20 million Americans—that’s equal to one in fifteen of us.
I plan on using this corner to discuss all aspects of incontinence and different care solutions in a positive and comforting light. In my upcoming posts in this corner, I will focus on the importance of understanding what solutions are available to incontinent individuals and what steps can be made to live a more comfortable lifestyle. In addition, I'll examine much of the terminology surrounding incontinence—including "adult diapers" versus "adult briefs"—and how that affects the way that the greater public deals with incontinence.
I invite your feedback and interaction as well—I want to know what you'd like us to discuss. Until then, I thank you for being here, and I wish you all the best.
Your Partner in Comfort,
Gary Hirsch
