I truly wish my folks had practiced the info you outline here when "helping" my grandparents move out of their lifelong home and into a retirement facility. Instead, it was a rushed, highly stressful experience that left its mark on everyone involved.
This info is SO important in helping make a traumatic expericence like moving on from one phase of your life to another...easier.
Great recommendations!
would love to see an organized checklist/timeline for all of this info. it's really helpful and I've never heard anyone address these issues. what a help that would be!
oh, and incorporating the emotional aspects into that list would be amazing. I have a ton of friends that could use this. great info. thanks.
Finding your site tonight is a gift to me. Thanks!!! I'm in process of helping my mother prepare to move and needed this reminder to listen to her heart. We're surrounded by boxes and piles. I realize it's not the 'stuff,' but the stuff is often the only remaining tangible connection to the people~especially my father. You've given me some ideas to improve the process. I'm most grateful.
