Great post, Lori. Amazing how much progress has been made in the robotic field. I'm still not sure how I feel about the benefits vs. possible detriments to the person being cared for. “There is no question that these machines can be a huge boon to seniors—whether it’s simply augmenting a human caregiver or independently assisting a senior living on his or her own. But I still wonder about the emotional effects of the loss of human contact.

With that said, I think all developments in increasing quality of care is the most important part of this story. To see all fields progress with the advancements in technology is exciting. Would love to see if anyone is doing any studies on emotional effects with using these robotic assistive devices.

Oh, and by the way, where is my housekeeper robot? I've been waiting years for a breakthrough in that arena!

Robots, YEA, Have you ever worked in a long term care facility, or an altzheimers facility? I have, and if it it possible to keep a family member at home with a robot by ALL MEANS do so.
The care that is given to our eldery
    in a facility is pathetic!!!!
However, I also realize that burnout is a problem for home caregivers. There is no easy answer:( A robot would sure help.
