    Hello Leo,
Thanks for your comment. There are more posts like this coming - we all have the responsibility of understanding what is being put into our landfill, and why. Stay tuned to this corner!

I am at the stage where incontinence requires a pad when I go on walks. I want to know how to dispose of the used pads in an environmentally friendly way.A websearch brought me to this website.

We need to know now ,I thought you would have all the answers. I throw away many diapers in the garbage everyday. I double the plastic bags and put them in the garbage can which gets picked up once a week. Iam so embarrassed especially in the summer the urine odor is so strong. Thank goodnes my husband can move his bowels in the toilet. it may come to that soon. please let me know what to do. I use tena brief diapers and pads.

I was hoping to find information about alternative disposal of adult dipers. Can a home owner burn them? I would perfer this if allowable. Are there any thing like diper shreding disposal machines?

    Thank you

What wearing cloth or cotton adult diapers?

  7. Jeff Philip Says:

In our store http://www.ECOrganics.ca we have the only compostable/disposable diapers on the market, Nature Babycare. They are absolutely the best diapers that my son has worn to date. We have tried many brands in the past for comparison.
We are currently trying to source out adult diapers/briefs. We do have cloth adult briefs available so you can rewash them. They are not posted on the site however, you can email or call us about them. We also have available the washable diaper/brief liner pads, which can be used for menstral periods as well.
It is very true what Mr. Hirsch said, they very much as to the landfills but the common person thinks on an "Out of sight, out of mind" basis.
The worst part about the landfills is, EVERYTHING

    Mr. Hirsch,
Thank you so much for this and the entire series of columns you've published regarding the disposal and recycling of adult incontinence products. This morning I found your columns as I was researching part of a post for my online journals about being my mother's companion and taking care of her during her last (several) years. Although she died in December of last year, I continue to write about issues involved in our journey. Today's post started with a consideration of how much less garbage I generate since her death...and went on to talk about the specific problem of garbage generated as a result of using disposable incontinence products. I linked to a few of the articles in your series, the entire series and, as well, your Gilbert Guide area. I found your columns informative, easy to find and easy to use to "bounce off" into further research. I'm very pleased!
    Sincerely,
    Gail Rae Hudson
