10 Best Cities for Job-Seeking Retirees
U.S. News & World Report posted 10 Best Cities for Job-Seeking Retirees, an article which discusses not only what kind of jobs are recession-proof, but also the cities in which to find employment for those over the age of 55. In a time where every American conversation seems to drift back to “the economy” and what the future holds, this article is a bright spot of proverbial sunshine for many retirees that need or want to continue working during their golden years. In the article, Bob Skladany, vice president of research for RetirementJobs.com, is quoted as saying “The recession-proof industries are the ones where people find jobs when times are tough: healthcare, higher education, government, retail, transportation, and utilities or energy.” The article then goes into where seniors can find employment in these industries in cities with a low cost of living. The list is as follows:
1. Bellevue, Washington
2. Bismarck, North Dakota
3. Charleston, West Virginia
4. Charlottesville, Virginia
